Life Long Learning & Workforce Development
The Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development division at Mount Wachusett Community College provides a wide variety of options for students of all ages. From our summer programs for teens and kids, to our adult enrichment classes, there is something for everyone at the Mount.
MWCC’s Lifelong Learning Department offers a variety of noncredit courses for every age and interest.
Children and Teens
MWCC offers vacation and summer camps for children and youth ages 5 to 18. Vacation camps cover a wide range of subjects from veterinary medicine to sports camp and everything in between! These classes run during the April school vacation and for eight weeks each summer.
Adult Personal Interest
Throughout the year, we offer a large variety of noncredit courses for an array of interests including arts and crafts, health and wellness, new age, music, writing, and much more. MWCC offers Educational, Inspirational and Fun courses, that enhance your skills, hobbies, work, and personal life. Choose from classes offered days, evenings, or online. You can learn to use your digital camera, how a computer program would help you get ahead at work or even learn how to play a musical instrument. We also offer courses to help you grow your business, enhance employees’ skills, and maintain customers.
Career Skills and Workforce Training
If you’re looking to learn a new skill or improve your professional skills, we offer career-related courses throughout the year covering subjects such as leadership and management, marketing, computer skills, presentation techniques, customer service, career prep, and many industry-specific trainings and certifications.
Our Workforce Development office provides quality on-site education and training for businesses in North Central Massachusetts. Grant writing is available, at no cost, for submission to the Workforce Training Fund Program. Call us to discuss how we can help your company succeed. Workforce development programs include Six-Sigman Lean Green Belt Training and other enrichment programs for employees at all levels.
Robotics and Automation Training and Quality Technician Training are programs for people seeking new training and/or additional training for job placement and growth. Courses are a combination of mechanics and electronics, with a special focus on robotics and automation in the modern manufacturing environment. Costs for this program can be covered for young adults (aged 17 – 29) thanks to a U.S. Department of Labor grant. Other funding sources may be available as well.
Noncredit Courses and Certificate Programs
MWCC works with a third-party vendor to offer online non-credit courses for CEU’s, career enrichment, and other topics. These online programs are geared toward people who are looking to improve skills in the workplace, and entrepreneurs who are looking to enrich their businesses. Courses include cannabis training, CEU’s for teachers, business management, and skill-based courses and certificates.
Adult Education and College Preparation
These courses build foundational academic, English language, and workplace readiness skills while preparing students for their high school equivalency test, industry-specific occupational training, and successful transition to college coursework at MWCC. Hi-Set and GED preparation and testing are offered for students looking to complete high school. Our Transitions to College Program provides access to college courses and support services for adult students preparing to start college.
Emergency Medical Services Training
MWCC is currently offering emergency medical service training with new selections being added often. Courses offered include Emergency Medical Technician, Tactical Emergency Casualty Care, Disaster Response, Emergency Pediatric Care, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.
